CTCMPAO registers members in two categories: R. TCMP (Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner) with full scope including herbal medicine, and R. Ac (Registered Acupuncturist) with scope limited to acupuncture and related techniques.
Complete an Approved Educational Program
You must graduate from a TCM or acupuncture program approved by CTCMPAO. Programs must meet the entry-to-practice competency requirements established by the College. A list of approved programs is available on the CTCMPAO website.
Pass the Registration Examinations
Registration examinations are administered by the Pan-Canadian Regulatory Alliance (PCRA). You must pass the applicable written and practical examinations for your registration category.
Submit Your Application
Complete the CTCMPAO application for registration, provide all required documentation (official transcripts, exam results, proof of identity), and pay the application fee. Your application will be reviewed by the Registrar.
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English or French. This can be satisfied through completion of an approved program taught in English or French, or by submitting results from an approved language proficiency test. Contact the College for acceptable tests and minimum scores.
Application and registration fees are set annually by CTCMPAO's Council. Current fees are listed on the CTCMPAO website. Fees are non-refundable once an application has been reviewed.
